The new Find My app combines Find My iPhone and Find My Friends into a single, easy-to-use app on iOS, iPadOS, and now macOS. Find My can help you locate your devices and your friends and family. And now it can help you find your devices even when they’re offline.
Find My iPhone: If you misplace your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, the Find My iPhone app will let you use any iOS device to find it and protect your data. Simply install this free app, open it, and sign in with the Apple ID you use for iCloud. Find My iPhone will help you locate your missing d.
Locate your devices easily.
Some apps do allow you to see files, but it depends on the apps. The ones that let you see files generally allow these files to be synced from a computer, using File Sharing: How to Transfer files and folders to an iPhone or iPad App from a Mac or PC. But most apps don't have File Sharing enabled. Apps on your iPhone can track your location, but you have to give them access first. Here’s how to check which apps can monitor your GPS location and revoke their access. As important as privacy is, letting some apps track our location makes them much more useful—and sometimes it’s essential. In the Find My app on your Mac, click People. To see your current location, click the Current Location button in the lower-right corner of the map. Click Share My Location at the bottom of the People list. Type a name, an email address, or a phone number in the To field. From this section, click on the “Manage Location History” button. From the next screen, turn off the toggle next to “Location History” to turn off location tracking. While this stops the Google Maps app on your devices from tracking your location, some Google apps will still store time-stamped location data.
You take your devices everywhere. Which means you might leave them anywhere. Whether they’re in a conference room or under a sofa pillow, chances are they won’t be lost for long. The Find My app helps you locate not only your iPhone, but also your iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple Watch, or AirPods.
See all your devices on a map.
Is your iPad at home or back at the office? Use the map to get a full picture of where your devices are — and where a missing one might be. Some devices can also mark their location when the battery is critically low, to help you find them even if they run out of power.
Play a sound to
find your device.
When you can’t find something but think it’s nearby or around others who might hear it, you can play a sound to pinpoint its location. Your AirPods have a specifically designed sound that can project across a room — and even farther.
Put it in Lost Mode.
Google photos app in mac osx. If your device goes missing, put it in Lost Mode to lock it immediately and start tracking its location. You can also display a message with a contact number on your device’s Lock screen, so whoever finds it can call you without accessing the rest of its information.
Erase it with ease.
Worried that your device has fallen into the wrong hands? You may want to erase it remotely to delete your personal data and restore your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple Watch to its factory settings. If you retrieve it, you can restore it from your iCloud backup.
Locked down. Automatically.
Activation Lock is designed to prevent anyone else from using or selling your device*. When you enable Find My on your device, Activation Lock is turned on automatically. Your Apple ID and password will then be required before anyone can erase your device or reactivate it.
Find your devices.
Even when they’re offline.
Find My can help you locate a missing device — even if it’s offline and sleeping — by sending out Bluetooth signals that can be detected by Apple devices in use nearby. These devices then relay the detected location of your device to iCloud so you can locate it in the Find My app. It’s all anonymous and encrypted end-to-end so no one, including Apple, knows the identity of any reporting device. Keep up with the
people in your life.
Invite friends and family members to share their locations. So you can keep in touch with one another, coordinate around an event, or know when a family member has arrived home safely.
Put your friends and family on the map.
When you share your location with friends, you’re all in the loop. Find each other more quickly and stay connected with ease. Share your location for an hour, a day, or indefinitely as you see fit.
Get notifications
based on location.
You can set up notifications for when friends and family leave or arrive at a place — making meetups a cinch. And so no one’s privacy is compromised, they’ll be notified when you set one up. You can also use parental controls to set up alerts and notifications, so you know when your child has arrived at a friend’s house or departed from school.
Your location data
stays private.
Just like every Apple product, Find My is designed to keep you in control of your data. Apple receives location information only when you actively locate your device, mark it as lost, or enable Send Last Location. Location data is retained for a maximum of 24 hours and is fully encrypted on Apple’s servers. And when Find My is used to locate an offline device, everyone’s information is protected with advanced end-to-end encryption so that no one, including Apple, knows the location or identity of any of the participating users or devices.

How to
share locations with friends and family
Iphone App Location Tracker
How it works
The family organizer sets up location sharing in Family Sharing settings. After location sharing is turned on, the organizer's location is automatically shared with everyone in the family group. Then each family member can choose whether or not to share their location. When you agree to share, your family members see your location in Find My Friends and Messages. If your family members have iOS 13 or later, they can see your location in the Find My app. If they have watchOS 6, they can see your location in the Find People app. And you can see where they're located too.
Plus, with location sharing enabled, if your device is lost or stolen, you can ask a family member to use Find My iPhone to help you locate it and get it back. If your family member has iOS 13 or later, you can ask them to use the Find My app.
Location sharing isn't supported in South Korea and might be unavailable in other regions due to local laws.
Choose when to share
Family Sharing lets you decide whether or not you share your location with your family.
Change Iphone Location App
To see if you're sharing, follow these steps:
Iphone Mac Address
- Tap Settings > [your name].
- If you use iOS 11, tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
- Tap Share My Location.
- Tap [family member name] to share with that person.
To stop sharing your location, turn off Share My Location. This hides your location from all of your family members and your approved friends. And when you're ready to share your location again, you can turn it back on at any time.
Choose which device to share your location from
By default, the device that you used to sign in to Family Sharing is the one that shares your location. https://renewspecial313.weebly.com/blog/how-to-open-screen-sharing-app-on-mac. If you want to share your location from a different device:
- Tap Settings > [your name].
- Tap Family Sharing > Location Sharing.
- Tap Share My Location > From.
- Select the device that you want to share from.
Location sharing and Find My iPhone
If you join Family Sharing and choose to share your location with family members, they can find and secure a missing device for you.
If you turned on Find My iPhone on your missing device, a family member can help you:
- See the location and online or offline status of your device.
- Play a sound on your missing device to help you find it.
- Put your device in Lost Mode if it was already set up with a passcode.
- Remotely erase a device.*
If you don't share your location, family members can’t access location information about your devices. Without location information, family members can still help you. They can check your missing device's online or offline status, play a sound on the device, put the device in Lost Mode, or remotely erase the device.*
* Before a family member can erase a device, the device owner needs to enter the password for the Apple ID signed into that device.
